For the left brain:
“I am the left brain. I am a scientist. A mathematician. I love the familiar. I categorize. I am accurate. Linear. Analytical. Strategic. I am practical. Always in control. A master of words and language. Realistic. I calculate equations and play with numbers. I am order. I am logic. I know exactly who I am.”
And for the right brain:
“I am the right brain. I am creativity. A free spirit. I am passion. Yearning. Sensuality. I am the sound of roaring laughter. I am taste. The feeling of sand beneath bare feat. I am movement. Vivid colors. I am the urge to paint on an empty canvas. I am boundless imagination. Art. Poetry. I sense. I feel. I am everything I wanted to be.”
Benz created such an interesting advert. I don't know how it's related to the car brand, but maybe this represents that Benz has both sides of brain, creativity and intelligence.
Personally I think I have both types of brain. (Well obviously we all have both sides of brain.lol) I'm more familiar with the left side when I'm writing essays and stuff because I have to be very logical. At the same time, I can be the right brain person, especially when I was doing Media Production, I had to be creative. My lecturer used to say "Learn to be creative". Even now, as Marketing needs creativity to find consumer insights, I think I use my creativity a lot. But I know there are millions of creative people all over the world. And I also know that the fact is many people don't even realise that they are creative.
Having lived in the UK for 3 years, what I found is that there are more creative people here, compared to Japan. I think people respect children's creativity more than people in Japan do. Do you think education or environment affects people's creativity? Personally I think it does...at least a little...don't have any evidence though.
Advertisers should have both sides of brain, I think. And they have to be well-balanced. Sometimes very creative (Creative Department etc.), but sometimes very logical (media planning etc.). That's why I'm doing Advertising. I want to use my creativity in logical sides, such as media/account planning. I think it's going to be very interesting if we mix up.
